This living table was restructured to reveal the natural beauty of its uzukuri-finished top. Originally a black-painted cedar table, it was dismantled and carefully re-polished to preserve the uzukuri texture. The wood grain now catches the light like ripples on water, highlighting the distinctive unevenness of the surface.
To complement the organic patterns of the tabletop, the legs are made from thick aluminum flat bars. The contrast between organic and inorganic materials draws out the essence of each.
Rather than being designed from a stylistic concept, this piece was shaped by listening to the materials themselves. It suggests a kind of ornamentation that belongs to no category—quiet, yet full of potential.
